Ornamental Fish Information Centre Opened

By Paneetha Ameresekere
Fisheries Minister Douglas Devananda recently (last Friday, 8 January) inaugurated an ornamental fish information centre at the National Aquaculture Development Authority’s (NAQDA’s) Head-Office Building at Battaramulla.
Speaking at the occasion, he said that an ornamental fish information centre was a dire need to both the country and also to the ornamental fish industry. He said that this Centre, a long felt need for Sri Lanka, became a reality due to the intervention of himself and his State Minister Kanchana Wijesekera.
Others who made this possible were Ministry Secretary Ms Indu Ratnayake, State Ministry Secretary Jayantha Chandrasoma and the NAQDA Chairman Jayantha Wijeratne and Director General S.J. Kahawatte, respectively, Devananda said.
