Organic fertiliser initiative for the common good – Yahampath

Eastern Province Governor Anuradha Yahampath said the decision of converting Sri Lanka into a country which is entirely dependent on organic fertiliser has been made on humanitarian grounds, with a good intention, considering the future of the country.
Yahampath further stated that although many people criticise this decision, there is no political agenda behind it. The Governor made these observations while speaking at a special meeting held at the Governor’s Office in Trincomalee on 16 June to discuss future plans regarding the implementation and expansion of the organic fertiliser programme in the Eastern Province.
“We started the journey of transforming Sri Lanka into a country with non-toxic soil from the Eastern Province. The decision taken by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to eliminate the chemical fertiliser mafia from the country is invaluable and a great victory achieved in our lifetime,” Yahampath said.
“The 30-year war has been brought to an end, but we are yet to reach the hearts of people in the Northern and Eastern Provinces. Their hearts were further injured by the Good Governance Government,” she said.
