Sports Nuwanidu  century as SSC win on D/L

Nuwanidu Fernando scored a fine 108 runs in 107 balls to lead SSC to victory against Galle CC in their Under-23 Major Club Youth Cricket Tournament fixture yesterday. His century comprised five boundaries and three sixes. Along with Ashen Bandara (93*) the pair put on a partnership of 157 runs for the fifth wicket. In reply to SSC’s 298/6, Galle CC were tottering at 66/8 in 25.4 overs when the match was called off. This was SSC’s third win.

Other teams to register their third win were Army CC, Colts CC and Tamil Union. Army CC, Chilaw Marians CC, Colts CC and SSC are leading the points table in their respective groups.

Moors SC beat Ports Authority CC by 94 runs at Moors. Mohammed Shamash and Pasindu Sooriyabandara (Moors SC) were involved in a 135 runs stand for the third wicket. 

Lankan CC sprung a surprise when they beat Chilaw Marians CC by 117 runs at MCG Katunayake.  

Due to the weather most of the matches were decided on the D/L method. Army CC, NCC, Bloomfield C&AC Colts CC, Tamil Union C&AC, Baduraliya CC at Welisara.  BRC beat Sebastianite C&AC by 7 wickets and Air Force SC beat Ragama CC.

The match between Panadura SC and Negombo CC at Panadura was abandoned.
