SLPP General Secretary, MP Sagara Kariyawasam, said there is nothing wrong with the statements made by the former Chairman of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka, Raja Collure against the teacher, principal trade union action. Collure previously stated that the salaries of teachers who continue striking following the recommencement of academic activities will be slashed for the month of November.

Kariyawasam stated that Collure only made such statements against the NGObacked conspiracies that operate with the motive of destroying the education system and that he was the only individual with a backbone to stand against such conspiracies.

Commenting on the decision made by the Communist Party of Sri Lanka to remove Collure from his position as Chairman based on the statements made by him, Kariyawasam said the SLPP, as a democratic party, will not criticise or interfere with the decision made by the Communist Party. “Collure should be remembered for his support to defeat the former Yahapalana Government and bring the incumbent Government to power,” he added.
