No threat to Ranjan’s life – Prisons Dept

The Prisons Department said yesterday that they vehemently reject accusations levelled against them that incarcerated SJB MP Ranjan Ramanayake’s life was in danger.
The MP, who was sentenced to four years RI after being convicted on a charge of Contempt of Court by the Supreme Court last January. He is presently detained at the Angunakolapelessa Prison.
Prisons Media Spokesman Chandana Ekanayake said Ramanayake was presently being held under strict security cover and no other inmate was detained in his cell.
SJB MP Dilip Wedaarachchi, who visited the convicted MP had claimed at a Media briefing that there was a threat to Ramanayake’s life at the said Prison.
