No one forcing public to buy liquor – Dilan
By Faadhila Thassim
Questioning why there is an issue with opening bars, SLPP MP Dilan Perera stated that although bars have been opened, the public has not been forced to make purchases, adding that opening of bars is acceptable.
He added that closing of bars will lead to the increase in illicit liquor sales and that this is not Taliban to restrict the liberty of people. In addition to opening of bars, as a measure to strengthen the economy, permission has to also be granted to grow cannabis for medicinal purposes and this should be regulated he said, adding that there has to also be an increased growth of ‘walla patta.’ Perera said so at a Media briefing held at SLPP Headquarters yesterday (23).
