Local No scientific evidence that well-cooked fish transmit COVID-19: Health Ministry

The Health Ministry said that there is no scientific evidence to prove that COVID-19 is transmitted through well-cooked fish.

In a statement, the Ministry said that on the theoretical basis that COVID-19 can be found on any surface, while preparing fish for storage or cooking, face should not be touched, and utensils used for preparation of fish and hands must be washed thoroughly.

The Ministry emphasized that baseless closure of fish markets is not necessary, and they may continue to operate following the provided health measures such as social distancing, hand washing and proper use of facemasks.
