No compulsory increase in public servants’ salaries – Lalkantha

There is no compulsory increase in the salaries of public servants in the Budget 2021, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Politburo Member K.D. Lalkantha said. Pensions too have been slashed, he added. He said this during a Media briefing held yesterday (24) in Colombo.
“The Eastern Terminal of the Colombo Port is now under discussion to be sold. We have a small piece called the Ashraff Jetty. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Government led by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa have decided to sell national resources, and we thereby lose opportunities to earn foreign exchange. The rulers hope to get more money from India as a lender country through this sale. That means our country is rapidly undergoing an economic invasion from countries like China, India and the USA. Traitors betray the country.”
He said, therefore, there is a need to build a real opposition outside of Parliament made up of trade unions, other organisations and progressive groups.
