New Guidelines for Operating Private Buses
By Upatissa Perera
The All Ceylon Private Bus Transport Association (ACPBTA) has issued a series of guidelines on how private buses should operate in the wake of the lifting of the ongoing quarantine curfew imposed to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Its Convener Nilantha Ekanayake says that ahead of the recommencement of the public transport services it will be mandatory for the driver and conductor of private buses to have been administered both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
They have further mentioned that if either the driver or any of the commuters has not worn face masks properly then that responsibility will also fall squarely on the shoulders of the conductor. According to them, they will be deploying inspectors to check whether commuters are taken according to the number of seats and whether health guidelines are followed or not.
