Namal meets Modi, gifts him Bhagwad Gita Sinhala version
Minister Namal Rajapaksa today (20) met with Indian prime minister Narendra Modi and gifted him a Sinhala version of Bhagwad Gita.
It also carries a message from the Sri Lankan premier Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Meanwhile, Namal Rajapaksa said India’s invitation to a delegation of Sri Lankan Buddhist clergy to join the inaugural international flight to Kushinagar will be cherished for years to come.
He was speaking at an event organised to mark Abhidhamma Day.
Minister Rajapaksa said that Buddhism is the greatest gift India had given to Sri Lanka.
He thanked PM Modi for extending a grant of 50 million US dollars to strengthen Buddhist ties between the two nations.
Premier Modi inaugurated Kushinagar International Airport in Uttar Pradesh earlier today to connect Buddhist pilgrimage sites around the world.
