Two persons were arrested, by the Muttur Police Crime Prevention Division, when attempting to change counterfeit currency at a business establishment in the Muttur town, Police said yesterday (22).
The arrests were made following the owner of the business establishment informing the Police. The suspects, residents of the Kantale area, were said to be a 27-year-old and a 29-year-old and were found to be in possession of Rs 43,000 in counterfeit currency notes.
Following the inquiries conducted, Police seized a computer used to produce counterfeit currency notes, a printing machine and a scanner.
The suspects were remanded till 30 November after being produced before Muttur Acting Magistrate A. C. A. Mahroof.
