The Police Investigation Unit attached to the Presidential Commission of Inquiry probing the Easter Sunday attacks has recorded a statement from BBC journalist Shirley Upul Kumara in connection with the interview he conducted with former President Maithripala Sirisena after the Easter Sunday attacks, on Tuesday (24). 

The video of the interview had been shown at the Commission on Tuesday.

The former President, responding to questions raised at the Commission, had stated that his statements had been distorted when editing the said program.

The former President had also alleged that the journalist who conducted the interview in question had violated media ethics.

The Police Investigation Unit had recorded statements from Upul Kumara for two hours, and he had assured that the statements made by the former President were not distorted.

It is reported that BBC journalist Upul Kumara is likely to be summoned to the Commission in future.
