Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddhika Sri Ragala yesterday (10) ordered the Cinnamon Gardens Police to direct Mrs. World 2019 Carolyn Jurie, model Chulapadmendra Kumarapathirana and plaintiff Mrs Sri Lanka 2020 contest winner Pushpika de Silva, to the Mediation Board and submit a report to him, on the controversial incident that took place during last year’s Mrs Sri Lanka contest.

Following a complaint lodged with Cinnamon Gardens Police, by Pushpika de Silva in connection with the incident that took place during the said contest, the two suspects Jurie and Kumarapathirana had provided statements to the Police on 8 April 2021.

The Police had informed the Court that plaintiff de Silva had refused to settle the case without receiving an unconditional apology from the two suspects over the disgrace brought to her by their conduct, while the two suspects for their part had also refused to seek forgiveness from the plaintiff.

Accordingly, following the recording of statements the two suspects had been released on Police bail, and the Cinnamon Gardens Police had filed a case at the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court on 19 April 2021.

The Police told Court that the State had suffered damages to the tune of Rs 700,000 due to the incident.
