Sudarshani Fernandopulle appointed State Minister of Primary Health Services, COVID Prevention
Dr. Sudarshani Fernandopulle was sworn in as the State Minister of Primary Health Services, Pandemics, and COVID Prevention at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday (30).
Promoting and maintaining the highest standards of primary health care is one of the main objectives of the ‘Saubhagyaye Dekma’ Policy Statement. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa believes that the development and expansion of primary health care services are vital to ensure a high level of health care for the people, especially those living in rural areas.
Thus, the President decided that a policy and a practical mechanism should be put in place to preemptively identify and control the spread of pandemics and therefore a decision was taken to create a new portfolio for Primary Health Services, Pandemics, and COVID Prevention.
Fernandopulle was the State Minister of Prison Reforms and Prisoners Rehabilitation.
