An elderly man and a small boy succumbed to their injuries, while two others were critically injured in motor accidents in the Palamoddai area of Omanthai, Horana, and Nelukkulam area of Vavuniya.

The Omanthai Police said yesterday (22) that a five-year-old boy who was trapped under the tractor succumbed to his injuries.

According to the Police, the victim fell from the tractor while the driver was ploughing the land with his and the land owner's son next to him, and he became trapped under the wheel and sustained critical injuries. The victim was rescued and rushed to the Divisional Hospital Omanthai, but he succumbed to his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Kanthalathan Kanishan. The Omanthai Police are conducting investigations.

In another incident, a 73-year-old motorcyclist was killed in an accident involving a motorcycle, a car, and a lorry in Horana. The victim was identified as a resident of Maha Hena in Horana.

According to Police, the accident occurred when a car plying from Ratnapura to Panadura collided with a motorcycle and then collided with a lorry following behind it.

The critically injured motorcyclist was rushed to Base Hospital Horana, where he died while being treated. The body was stored in the hospital mortuary and an autopsy will be conducted.

Police have arrested the driver of the Police car, and Horana Police are conducting investigations.

Meanwhile, two motorcycle commuters were critically injured in another accident involving a three-wheeler and a motorcycle in Nelukkulam, Vavuniya. The injured are being treated at the District General Hospital Vavuniya. The Ulukkulam Police are conducting investigations.
