Mohan Samaranayake new DG of Information
Senior Journalist Mohan Samaranayake has been appointed as the new Director General of the Department of Government Information.
Speaking to Ceylon Today, Mohan Samaranayake stated that he would assume his new duties in the week following the upcoming Sinhalese and Tamil New Year.
Nalaka Kaluwewa, the previous Director General of the Department of Government Information., resigned from the post.
Mohan Samaranayake, who has nearly four decades of experience in the field of mass media, entered the field as an Assistant in the 'Dawasa' paper, owned by Independent Newspapers Ltd.
He later worked as an Assistant Editor of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation and later served as the News Director of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation for five years.
He then served as the Head of the United Nations Information Center in Colombo for a long time, after which he was appointed Chairman of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation.
Mohan Samaranayake also served as the Director General of Presidential Media.
Furthermore, he is well versed in international politics and has also worked as an international political analyst.
