The SLFP, which is aligned with the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP)-led government, is to hold a separate rally in Polonnaruwa on 1 May to mark International Workers’ Day.
This was confirmed to Ceylon Today by Senior Vice President of the SLFP, Prof. Rohana Luxman Piyadasa. He said, discussions were underway with 12 political parties representing the Government and that they too are likely to join the SLFP in the May Day rally.
When asked whether the SLFP has decided to leave the Government, he said that no decision had been taken in that regard.
However, while in Government, the SLFP was working to guide the Government to provide solutions to serious socio- economic problems currently faced by the people, he added.
