Maternity home constructed in Mattakkuliya: With all facilities of a private hospital – Mayor of Colombo

A two storey maternity home constructed for the Department of Public Health in the Modera area in Mattakkuliya, Colombo 15 at a cost of Rs 38 million was opened on 21 February.
Mayor of Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) Rosy Senanayake, opening the building said, the entire cost of the project was borne by the CMC.
Adding, both physical and mental health clinics will be carried out at this centre, Senanayake said pregnant mothers will get an opportunity to discuss their issues with the doctors at the centre.
She expressed confidence that huge amount of money spent to consult doctors will be reduced through it and the underprivileged pregnant mothers in the region can heave a sigh of breath.
Senanayake added, the home consists of all facilities available in a private hospital in the Colombo area. There is an official residence for the family health officers in the top floor of the building.
“The home is developed so that pregnant mothers can stay with another female to assist them. Medical clinics, various consultancy services in connection with matters such as breast feeding will also be conducted,” she added.
