News Mangala’s ashes placed at Jayaratne Respect Home

The ashes of former Minister, the late Mangala Samaraweera, will be placed today (25) at the Jayaratne Respect Home on Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. since it was not possible for many people to pay their last respects to him and to provide an opportunity to the public to do so.

Relatives of the late Mangala Samaraweera said everyone who was unable to pay their last respects to him can come to the Jayaratne Respect Home and do so. 

Subsequently, the ashes of the late Mangala Samaraweera will be taken in a procession with a minimum number of vehicles, to Matara tomorrow (26) to be placed at the ‘Dutch Market Hall,’ which was set up under his guidance at Nupe, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Later, after carrying out Buddhist, Hindu and Islamic religious rites at 4:00 p.m., the ashes of the late Mangala Samaraweera will be interred in the tomb of the Samaraweera family at the Matara Cemetery.
