Make Nelum Pokuna a treatment centre: Rajitha
Former Minister of Health, Samagi Jana Balawege MP Dr Rajitha Senaratne yesterday (4) urged the Government to set up a treatment centre for COVID-19 patients at Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre in Colombo.
He said that theatres across the country could be used for this purpose and if COVID-19 is not managed properly, the country would have to resort to lockdown.
MP Senaratne said that there is a shortage of 40 essential drugs in the country at present and another 22 drugs will be in short supply by tomorrow.
He further stated that at this crucial juncture, diagnostic centres should be set up at the regional level, adding that medical experts point out that the current situation in Sri Lanka is likely to surpass that in India.
