Major Dinesh Chandimal’s portrait unveiled
A portrait of former Sri Lankan cricket captain Major Dinesh Chandimal was unveiled at the Panagoda Army Cricket Ground Hall of Fame recently in recognition of his unbeaten knock of 354 against Saracens SC at MCG Katunayake in the Super 8 fixture of the SLC Major Tier ‘A’ tournament 2020, which is the highest individual score in Sri Lankan domestic cricket. The right hander scored his runs in 391 balls with 33 boundaries and 9 sixes.
Chandimal has scored 3,877 runs (highest score 164) with 11 centuries and 18 half centuries in 57 Test matches. He has also scored 3,599 runs (highest score 111) with four centuries and 22 half centuries in 146 ODI matches. He has scored 800 runs (highest score 58) with four half centuries in T20 International matches.
He has scored 8,877 runs (highest score 354*) with 25 centuries and 41 half centuries in 121 first class matches; 6,263 runs (highest score 119*) with 9 centuries and 39 half centuries in 234 List ‘A’ matches and 2,812 runs (highest score 101*) with a century and 18 half centuries in T20 first class matches.
