Maithripala to Resurrect UPFA
The United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) convened yesterday (15), after a lapse of many years, under the leadership of ex-President and SLFP leader MP Maithripala Sirisena.
The meeting which was conducted via Zoom technology had also been attended by Mahajana Eksath Peramuna (MEP) leader and Minister of Education Dinesh Gunawardena as well as the leader of the Sri Lanka Mahajana Party (SLMP) SLPP MP Asanka Navaratne and other party leaders.
At the commencement of the meeting former leader of the Sri Lanka Labour Congress and CWC Arumugam Thondaman, ex-Minister Mangala Samaraweera and PM Podiappuhamy of the Desha Vimukthi Janatha Party were commemorated.
During the meeting a proposal had been mooted towards the formulation of a new set of proposals for the UPFA while lengthy discussions on it had been conducted. Furthermore, those at the meeting had also discussed ways and means of reviving the UPFA politically through its betel symbol and under a brand new set of ideas and policies geared towards the future.
