A special discussion between eight Govt. party leaders and Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda Thera, Ven. Omare Kassapa Thera, and Ven. Elle Gunawansa Thera was held yesterday (24), to discuss the standing of the Government.
Party leaders including Ministers Wimal Weerawansa, Udaya Gammanpila, and Vasudeva Nanayakkara participated in the meeting, which was held at the Abhayarama Temple in Narahenpita.
Ven. Ananda Thera criticised the health service, claiming the administration of the Health Ministry had deteriorated and said for President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to govern effectively, certain officials must be removed.
Asked why the meeting was organised, Nanayakkara said the monks had invited him to meet at 5:00 p.m. He said the monks had inquired about problems faced by the Government and the plans to solve them.
Ven. Ananda Thera, speaking to the Media following the meeting, said he observed certain shortcomings in the Government and added that he was ready to show them the way forward.
