The final stage of the player draft process of Sri Lankan players who are set to compete at the forthcoming LPL T-20 tournament is due to get underway on 1 November.
Informed sources said that on this day the precise number of players who would be fitted into each team, as well as the filling up of player vacancies, would be looked into.
The upcoming player draft will take place through online and on teleconference like it was staged on 19 October.
Sources said that a total of 12 foreign players would be drafted between the competing teams to fill up the void created by the withdrawal of a slew of players due to various reasons.
When contacted the head coach of Kandy Tuskers Hashan Thillakaratne said “On 1 November during the player draft some of the void created by the withdrawal of a number of foreign players would be filled. Even for our team there is the opportunity to enlist two more foreign players, but as to who would be chosen will have to be decided on that day.”
For each of the squads a total of 20 players are expected to feature, while to date only Lasith Malinga’s Galle Gladiators team is said to have filled up their squad of 20. The five team LPL T-20 tournament is slated to go ahead from 21 November up to 13 December, and the grand opening is scheduled to take place at 3.00 p.m. on 21 November.
