LPBOA opposes allowing bikes, trishaws on bus lane
By Shiran Ranasinghe
President of the Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association (LPBOA) Gemunu Wijeratne yesterday (15), expressed strong opposition to the decision taken by the Police to allow motorcyclists and three-wheeler drivers to ply on the same priority lane that has been allocated for heavy vehicles such as buses.
He warned that if the Police Department fails to remedy the situation, the LPBOA would either resort to trade union action or even file legal action against the Police.
Wijeratne mentioned that due to the decision taken to allow motorcycles and three-wheelers to also ply on the bus priority lane, it could lead to road accidents and under such a situation, the responsibility for it would have to be taken by the Police.
