Liquor outlets to be closed in view of Sinhalese - Tamil New Year
All retail liquor outlets in the country will be closed on 13 and 14 April in view of the upcoming Sinhalese and Tamil New Year.
Commissioner General of the Excise Department, M. J. Gunasiri noted that permit holders of tourist hotels and other specific tourist boutiques will be permitted to remain open.
Furthermore, liquor outlets across the country will be closed on 26 April in view of the Bak Full Moon Poya Day.
Special raids are scheduled to be conducted throughout the specific dates, he noted, adding that the general public have been requested to dial the hotline (1913) to lodge a complaint concerning any violations.
