Lebanon explosion: Sri Lankan Embassy slightly damaged, two Sri Lankans injured
The Sri Lankan Ambassador in Lebanon stated the Sri Lankan Embassy in Lebanon, situated 10km from the explosion that occurred in Beirut yesterday (04), was slightly damaged.
The Ambasssador stated that twoSri Lankans were injured due to the blast.
Meanwhile, Lebanese President Michel Aoun called for an emergency Cabinet meeting today (05) and said a two-week state of emergency should be declared following the massive explosion in Beirut that killed at least 100 people and injured 4,000 others.
The yesterday's explosion sent shockwaves across the city, causing widespread damage as far as the outskirts of the capital. Officials said they expect the death toll to rise further as emergency workers dig through the rubble to search for survivors.
