Leaving houses will be allowed on NIC numbers
Police say that persons will be allowed to leave their houses for non-essential activities depending on the last number of their National Identity Card when the travel restrictions come into effect from tomorrow (13) until 31 May.
Speaking at a media briefing held at the Police Headquarters, Police Media Spokesman, DIG Ajith Rohana said that those who do not have a NIC can use their passport or their driving license.
He said that those who are coming out of the house for non-essential purposes than work are required to have their NIC at all times.
Such persons are will only be able to leave their houses depending on the final number of their NIC.
Accordingly, those with the numbers 2,4,6,8 or 0 as the final number of their NIC will be able to leave their homes on even days and those with numbers 1,3,5,7 and 9 will be allowed to leave their homes on odd-numbered days.
DIG Ajith Rohana added that it is mandatory for all persons to have their NICs in possession when leaving home for work as well.
