An Extraordinary Gazette Notification has been issued annulling the earlier Gazette Notification issued by the Lands Commissioner General to give legal documents to those residing in State lands sans any documents or to those who had developed such lands.
The Gazette Notification bearing the No. 2192/36 issued on 10 September has thus been invalidated.
Secretary to the Ministry of Land R.A.A.K. Ranawaka said a decision had been taken to dismiss the previous Gazette Notification following complaints received that the granting of official land deeds had been termed by certain people as illegally taking over of lands.
