Kite flying ends in tragedy

Galle Police said three people who had climbed onto the roof of a three-storey building, to fly kites, had fallen and died when a roofing sheet caved in last Friday (14). The deceased include the 46-year-old building owner, his 6-year-old son, and a 44-year-old neighbour. The Police said the trio had climbed onto an asbestos sheet of the three-storey house which was under construction and had been flying kites, when suddenly, the sheet had caved in. They were pronounced dead on admission to hospital. A girl escaped unhurt and Police said she had witnessed the incident. Galle Police are conducting further investigations.
