Kelum Senanayake appointed Arpico Insurance CEO

Insurance industry veteran Kelum Senanayake has been appointed the Chief Executive Officer of Arpico Insurance PLC with effect from 1 March 2021.
Kelum started his Insurance career as a clerk in the year 1982 at Mercantile Credit Ltd (Principal Agent for National Insurance Corporation) and rose to the rank of Director-Operations.
In a career spanning nearly 40 years, he was employed at Union Assurance PLC for 27 years and AIA Insurance for 10 years. During his illustrious career he has worked at both strategic and implementation levels. He has actively participated in new business underwriting, policy holder servicing, claims, group life underwriting, reinsurance and payments etc.
He has a very good rapport with many foreign reinsurers such as Munich Re, Swiss Re and RGA and had very high underwriting approval limits from them. This was to complement a clean and ethical record for underwriting standards he maintained in protecting company’s and customer’s interest.
Kelum has had active interactions with Distribution, Finance, Actuarial, IT, HR and Logistics.
With the above experience he trained an agency force of over 4,500 agents at AIA Insurance Lanka Ltd as a consultant trainer and achieved the MDRT threshold of Rs 4.4 million as a Wealth Planner by achieving Rs 7 million in first year premiums in the year 2020 at the same organisation.
