Kandy, Kurunegala and Ratnapura to get jabs next

 The COVID-19 vaccine will reach the Districts of Kandy, Kurunegala and Ratnapura once inoculation in the Western Province is complete, Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi said. Wanniarachchi said the programme would be carried out in MOH areas in which a large number of COVID-19 patients had been detected in those districts. She was speaking to the Media on Friday (14). By Thursday (13) the Epidemiology Unit had inoculated 241,522 persons with the second dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covishield jab, 214,880 received the first dose of the Sinopharm vaccine, and another 14,673 persons received the first dose of the Sputnik V jab. Large crowds were seen braving the inclement weather conditions experienced in the Western Province to be inoculated with the three separate COVID-19 vaccines at several locations in the three Districts of the Western Province.
