K’gala Palace to be turned into museum
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa in his capacity as the Minister of Urban Development, Water Supply and Housing Facilities has issued instructions to the Urban Development Authority (UDA) to turn the Kurunegala historic palace into a museum.
According to historic data, the Kurunegala historic palace had been used by four kings. Archaeological Department sources stated that the Kurunegala palace was over 800-years-old.
He had also given instructions to UDA officers to redevelop the palace and turn it into a museum.
The total expenditure for this project has been estimated at
Rs 350 million.
