Joint Committee of Health Service Trade Unions (JCHSTU) halted its trade union action against alleged malpractices in recruiting health sector workers after two days on Friday (26). Speaking to Ceylon Today, JCHSTU General Secretary N.M.S.D. Nawaraliya expressed that the Government affiliated trade union membership will be removed from the joint committee for their lack of cooperation in trade union activities.
“We have postponed the meeting that was supposed to be held on Friday (26). Decisions regarding further trade union actions over this issue will be taken on 1 March. The Government affiliated trade union will not be permitted to attend this meeting,” noted Nawaraliya.
The JCHSTU refrained from reporting to work in order to demonstrate their objection to the malpractices in recruiting health sector workers and demanded a response in this regard from President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in writing.
