Issues might crop up during implementation – TUs

The State Provincial Trade Union Collective says the proposal contained in next year’s Budget to increase the retirement age of Government sector employees to 65, will cause unforeseen issues when attempting to implement it in the future.
They pointed out that when implementing the proposal, if State sector employees are in good health and working state then increasing the age limit to 65 will not create any unexpected issues.
But, they warned that retaining people who are not of sound mentality and unable to carry out their work diligently will not yield the desired result.
The Collective had raised these concerns while submitting a letter to Minister of Public Services, Provincial Councils and Local Government Janaka Bandara Tennakoon.
