Sports Ishan guides Ragama CC to victory with hat-trick

Ragama CC skipper Ishan Jayarathne’s hat-trick helped his team to claim a thrilling 2-wicket win against Tamil Union at the ongoing Major Club T20 Cricket Tournament 2020/21 conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).

Bowling the 17th over, Ishan snared Dilruwan Perera for 3, bowled Sachindu Colombage for a golden duck, and returned in the 19 over to complete his hat-trick when he bowled Shiran Fernando (0) to bowl out Tamil Union for 118 runs and spark wild celebrations.

For Tamil Union, Yohan Mendis and Ravindu Fernando top scored with 25 each,to ensure their team reached a decent score before they were sent to the pavilion.

Apart from Ishan, Binura Fernando also picked up 3 wickets for 22 runs, while Janaka Sampath picked up 2 wickets.

Chasing 118 runs it was not a walk in the park for the Ragama lads as the Tamil Union bowlers made them work hard to earn their win with two balls to spare. Ishan Fernando once again stepped forward, this time with the bat, to top score with 22 to take his team over the line.
