A senior Police official said they hope to obtain the assistance of Interpol to arrest the suspect who is accused of having murdered the mother, father and daughter of the same family in Qatar.

The suspect is believed to be the boyfriend of the daughter and is said to have arrived back in Sri Lanka.

Arrangements will be made to inform officials in Qatar through the Interpol branch located at the CID and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to apprise them of the progress of the investigation, in accordance with the procedure followed when a murder is committed in a foreign country.

The remains of the father of the family Logadasan Mahendra Raj (58), the mother Saverimuttu Victoria (55) and the daughter Logadasan Mahendra Raj Sudharshani (34), who had been killed on 1 March were brought to the BIA on 7 July on a special aircraft belonging to the SriLankan Airlines.

Information has been received that the daughter’s boyfriend, named as the suspect in the triple murder which took place in Qatar, had arrived in the country subsequent to the killing and that he is a resident of Nelundeniya.

Police said evidence will be submitted to Court regarding this incident in the future and future investigations will be carried out based on instructions of the Attorney General.

Initial investigations into this incident are being carried out under the supervision of Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Western Province, Deshabandu Tennakoon and on the instructions and guidance of the Officer-in-Charge of the Katunayake Airport Police, Chief Inspector of Police Jayanath Wanasinghe.
