Inoculation program: SL reaches one million milestone
Sri Lanka has vaccinated over one million persons with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccines, the Epidemiology Unit says.
According to the statistics of the Epidemiology Unit, 925,242 persons have been inoculated with the first dose of the COVIDSHIELD-AstraZeneca jab while 221,368 persons have received the second dose of the vaccine.
Moreover, 11,338 have received the first dose of the Sputnik V vaccine while 71,203 have been inoculated with the first dose of the Sinopharm vaccine.
Sri Lanka began administering the Sputnik V vaccine on 06 May, after receiving approval from the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) and the Sinopharm vaccine rollout began on 08 May.
Residents of Gothatuwa between ages 30-60 became the first to receive the Sputnik V vaccine while the Sinopharm vaccine rollout began with Residents of Panadura between 30-60 ages.
