Individual who spat at PHI to serve 6 years in prison

The individual who spat at a PHI and health officers carrying out COVID-19 mitigation efforts in Atulugama, Bandaragama last month, has been sentenced to six years in prison.
The 56-year-old male, a resident of Atulugama was charged with 8 offences including disturbing the duties of a health official and refusing to quarantine.
According to DIG Ajith Rohana, the Panadura Magistrate court sentenced the suspect to 2 years in prison for each offence he was found guilty of. He was also charged a fine of Rs. 10,000.
