India-Sri Lanka relationship has strengthened: Indian Premier Modi

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on the first anniversary of assumption of office and expressed confidence on the lasting bilateral relationship between the two countries.
The High Commission of India in a statement said that Indian Prime Minister Modi has noted that the India-Sri Lanka relationship had expanded into new areas and has been strengthened.
The strong collaboration between the two countries in the midst of challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic symbolised the friendly ties between the two peoples, Indian Prime Minister Modi has stated.
Further, he has stated that he is committed to assisting Sri Lanka in fighting against COVID-19 as well as in development.
Indian Prime Minister Modi wished the Sri Lankan President success in his tenure ahead and said he looks forward to continuing close cooperation.
