India gifts defence equipment to SLAF

The handing-over ceremony of Indian made air defence equipment and INDRA Mk-II radar spares took place on 16 January 2021 at the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) Base Katunayake. The event was held under the auspices of the High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka Gopal Baglay and SLAF Commander Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana accepted the equipment on behalf of the SLAF.
The event took place at the Aeronautical Engineering Wing (AEW) Hangar premises, Katunayake. SLAF Katunayake Base Commander Air Vice Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa delivered the welcome address.
Pathirana, who proposed the vote of thanks, appreciated the Government of India and the Indian Air Force (IAF) for their continued support to the SLAF by providing up to date air defence systems.
The Commander also presented a special memento to Baglay symbolising Sri Lanka’s and the SLAF’s appreciation of the GoI and the IAF for their generosity.
