Increase efficiency of SDCC – Lanza

Nimal Lanza, State Minister of Rural Roads and other Infrastructure, recently chaired a special discussion to increase the efficiency of the State Development and Constructions Corporation (SDCC) to make a significant contribution to the development activities of the country and to transform the institution into a profitable institution.
The discussion was held at the State Development and Constructions Corporation in Ratmalana.
Under the ‘Vision of Prosperity’ national programme, this institution will be involved in development activities including the development of 100,000 km of road and the implementation of rural bridge projects that will replace dilapidated bridges.
Set up in 1971, the State Development and Constructions Corporation has contributed to a number of State development projects, including roads, bridges and irrigation projects, water supply projects, precast concrete products, road signs and other construction activities.
The State Minister pointed out that the physical and human resources of the institution should be properly managed and action taken to make it a profitable institution and minimising the cost of projects carried out. He said, the company should work to achieve high efficiency, with the submission of new plans and suggestions.
His instructions to officials was to pay more attention to high priority and profitable sectors to implement various projects by submitting new plans and proposals for the development of the institute and implementation of new projects expeditiously.
