Incident Command and Control Operations Centre opened at BIA

The Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited (AASL) has fulfilled the need to enhance and upgrade airport security measures and latest technologies and as a part of this endeavour, the Incident Command and Control Operations Centre at the Bandaranaike International Airport was declared open on 30 November.
The Centre will meet and manage security-related contingencies and emergencies such as attempted hijackings and hijackings, bomb threats and acts of sabotage. Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) technology too was commissioned. New baggage screening X-rays and Dual-Energy X-ray systems were introduced and installed. The AASL will also introduce the latest security screening technology, Explosive Detection Systems with Computed Tomography technologies, integrated image resolution and energy resolution to the new BIA terminal which is due to be opened in four years.
