I am disappointed: Sirisena
Former President Maithripala Sirisena says that he is disappointed with the statement made by Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith with regard to taking legal action against the former President.
Meanwhile, State Minister of Batik, Handloom and Local Apparel Products, Dayasiri Jayasekara says that the Cardinal has misunderstood the situation, as former President Maithripala Sirisena has been appointed as a Parliamentarian after contesting the General Election last year.
He further stated that Sirisena has not been named as a liable person anywhere within the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Easter Sunday Attack, and the decision to name him as a responsible party lies only with the Attorney General.
"What we need to do is to find the bomber who was involved in the attack, because the former President was not involved in the attack at all. That is a misunderstanding" Jayasekara added.
The Archbishop of Colombo Malcom Cardinal Ranjith said that legal action should be taken against the former President while speaking to the media after the Easter service held at St. Anthony's Church in Kochchikade, yesterday (04).
