Horana Pradeshiya Sabha divided into two

The Chairman of the Horana Pradeshiya Sabha, Ashoka Ranatunga, revealed that a decision has been reached to split the Horana Pradehiya Sabha (PS) into two entities, namely the Horana PS and the Ingiriya PS.
The decision was finalized with the consent of the majority of the Horana Pradeshiya Sabha members and it has been referred to the Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government and the Governor for approval.
Deputy Chairman of the Horana Pradeshiya Sabha, Dilip Weerakkody, said that there are various problems in the management of resources due to the size of the Horana Pradeshiya Sabha, which spreads over a large area.
Weerakkody further said that such problems would not arise when maintaining two Pradeshiya Sabhas and as a result, more benefits could be provided to the people and a large amount of relief could be provided to many villages facing difficulties such as Handapangoda, Kurana, Menerigama, and Pelpitigoda.
