PHI impersonator arrested for theft

A woman who impersonated a Public Health Official in order to carry out a number of thefts in Jaffna was arrested by a group of villagers in the Thondamanaru area and handed over to the police on 12 January.
Upon inspecting the houses, she would ask residents to evacuate claiming that various germs had entered the houses during the rains. She has also entered houses claiming to detect coronavirus germs.
Further investigations are being conducted by the Valvettiththurai Police in Jaffna.
