Local Grama Niladhari arrested for solicitation

A Grama Niladhari officer was arrested yesterday (19) for requesting a bribe of Rs. 25,000 for the revision of an incorrect name registered in the Electoral Register.

The arrestee has been identified as the Grama Niladhari officer of the No. 64 Singhapura Grama Niladhari Division in the Lunugamvehera area.

He was arrested by Bribery Commission officers yesterday (19) at in Lunugamvehera, following a complaint from a resident of Weerawila.
