Govt prioritising economic recovery – Premajayantha

The Government’s main priority after the Election will be to rebuild the economy and to ensure food security, stated former Parliamentarian Susil Premajayantha yesterday (30). He said this at a Sri Lanka Freedom People’s Alliance Media briefing.
“There is a significant slowdown in the global economy. A lot of industries that play a crucial role in bringing in foreign currency like the apparel industry, tourism and the gem industry have collapsed. Our President has given priority to food security and to make us self-sufficient in terms of vegetables and fruits, without depending on imports,” he said.
Meanwhile, he stated that surveys done by them have shown that the Opposition cannot score beyond 30 per cent of the votes in the Colombo District. “Our surveys have shown that even if the votes of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya and the UNP are combined, it will not surpass 30 per cent,” he added.
