Minister of Education Prof. G.L. Peiris said the Government’s policy was to assist those who missed out on opportunities and as a result, lost many privileges, by providing them with the necessary facilities to achieve their goals.
He was speaking at the opening ceremony of the newly constructed building of the Himbiliyakada Primary School in Wilgamuwa in the Central Province yesterday (21).
The building was constructed in keeping with the manifesto of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa under the Gama Samaga Pilisandara programme.
The Minister pointed out that talented students were receiving their education in many difficult schools which lacked facilities and that the Government was paying special attention to identify these schools and fulfil the basic needs. He also said attention will be paid to nutrition in schools and the ease of access to schools for students in all areas.
“Our country is on the agenda of the Geneva Human Rights Council where they have accused our Tri Forces of intimidating the people and violating human rights. The Government would go to Geneva to save the Tri Forces from that charge and that our Forces would stand together to meet the needs of the people,” he said.
