Government seeks assistance of 'Litro Gas' company to import oxygen cylinders
Sri Lanka has sought the assistance of 'Litro Gas' company to import 21,000 oxygen cylinders, the Presidential Task Force on Economic Revival and Poverty Alleviation says.
According to a press release by the Task Force, the decision to import additional oxygen cylinders has been taken in line with forecast of required stocks of oxygen cylinders by the Ministry of Health.
The Ministry of Health mentions that although the country has enough stocks to meet the current demand, Sri Lanka may require 2,000 four litre cylinders, 10,000 12 litre cylinders and 9,000 47 litre cylinders.
Chairman of the Task Force, Basil Rajapaksa says that steps will be taken to purchase stocks of oxygen cylinders as per the requirements of the Ministry of Health.
The press release adds that the Litro Gas company is due to import a consignment of oxygen cylinders from Singapore within few days, and China has agreed to supply oxygen cylinders following a request made by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
